Missouri Adoption and Foster Care Laws
Chapter 453 Revised Statutes of Missouri
Since July 1917, adoptions in Missouri have been under the jurisdiction of circuit courts and are
sealed court records.
Adult adoptees may request non-identifying information regarding biological parents- physical description, nationality, religious background, medical history- from the Circuit Court where the adoption was finalized.

An adult adoptee, biological parent, or biological sibling may sign-up with the
Illinois Circuit Court Adoption Records
Since 1867, adoptions in Illinois have been under
the jurisdiction of county courts/circuit courts.
In 2010, the Illinois General Assembly passed a law enabling access to more than non-identifying information.
