Miscellaneous Marriage Records Indexing
Added to Recorder and Registrar Website

Over the Memorial Day weekend, the St. Louis City Recorder of Deeds Office posted female and male indexing for 88 marriage-related documents dated 1855 to 1942 and recorded 1921 to 1942 in Marriage Abstract Book 90.

Marriage Abstract Books have been used since 1881, when Missouri established its Marriage Application and License process, as a back up system for marriage licenses. If necessary, a certified copy of a marriage license's entry in the Marriage Abstract Book can be issued in lieu of a certified copy of the actual license.

Marriage Abstract Book 90 is different. It contains recorded transcriptions of 12 divorce settlements or separation agreements; 14 pre-1881 St. Louis marriage records and marriage records from other venues; and 62 marriage contracts.

Marriage Abstract Book 90 was indexed in May by Recorder and Registrar archivists. The indexing is available here. For additional information contact 314.589.8174 or e-mail.
